Digication Themes and Customization

There are a few ways to customize the look and feel of your Digication ePortfolio. All users have the ability to change their ePortfolio directory icon, header (e.g. banner or masthead image) as well as fonts, colors, and layout (via Cascading Style Sheets … CSS … programming language).

To change your ePortfolio’s Directory Icon:

The directory icon displays when others are looking at your ePortfolio within a list of other ePortfolios. This icon image needs to be 100 x 100 pixels in dimensions. To change it:

  1. Access your ePortfolio.
  2. Click on the Portfolio Tools drop-down menu in the upper-right of your ePortfolio.
  3. Choose Settings from the menu.
  4. Click the Customize button under the Theme of your ePortfolio.
  5. Click the Choose File button under the Directory Icon section. Find your new icon image (this is like attaching a file to an email).
  6. Click the Save button at the bottom of the page to record your change.

To change your ePortfolio’s Header Image:

The header image displays along the top of your ePortfolio when others are looking at it. This header image needs to be 779 pixels wide or less; any image wider will be automatically resized by Digication when uploaded. To change it:

  1. Access your ePortfolio.
  2. Click on the Portfolio Tools drop-down menu in the upper-right of your ePortfolio.
  3. Choose Settings from the menu.
  4. Click the Customize button under the Theme of your ePortfolio.
  5. Click the Choose File button under the Header section. Find your new icon image (this is like attaching a file to an email).
  6. Click the Save button at the bottom of the page to record your change.

To change your ePortfolio’s fonts, colors and layout:

All users have the ability to change the fonts, colors and layout of your ePortfolio using Cascading Style Sheets language (CSS). Contact Academic Technology Services if you are interested in doing this. Otherwise, to change it:

  1. Access your ePortfolio.
  2. Click on the Portfolio Tools drop-down menu in the upper-right of your ePortfolio.
  3. Choose Settings from the menu.
  4. Edit the CSS code already present in the CSS field. Remember: you should be comfortable with CSS before doing this.
  5. Click the Save button at the bottom of the page to record your change.

Custom CSS (from Digication Documentation): If you are comfortable editing Cascading Style Sheets, you can create your own e- Portfolio styling by editing the default CSS. If you need to get back to the default style, just delete the contents of the Custom CSS box and click Save at the bottom of the page. Upon saving, the Custom CSS box will be populated with the default styling for that theme. The Reset button causes the CSS to revert to the last saved state.
